Entrance Requirements

According to MN Statute 124D.68 Graduation Incentives Program,


Entrance Requirements for those 15 to 20 years of age:

Graduation Incentive Program criteria applies to any Minnesota student under the age of 21 who:

  • Performs substantially below the performance level for pupils of the same age on a local achievement test
  • Is at least one year behind in their coursework or obtaining credits for graduation
  •  Is pregnant or is a parent
  •  Has been assessed as chemically dependent
  •  Is a victim of physical or sexual abuse
  •  Has experienced mental health problems
  •  Has experienced homelessness sometime within the last six months
  •  Speaks English as a second language or has limited English proficiency
  •  Has been referred by a school district for enrollment in an eligible program
  •  Has withdrawn from school or is chronically truant
  •  Has been excluded or expelled
  •  Is being treated in a hospital in the seven-county metro area for cancer or other life threatening illness or is the sibling of an eligible pupil who is being currently treated, and resides with the pupil's family at least 60 miles beyond the outside boundary of the 7-county metro area.
